Mozambique is making headways in the digitizing financial services. According INCM data, internet penetration has been a success the number of subscribers has been increased from 5 million to nearly 15 million accounts among the three registered operators, indicating a substantial adoption between (2009-2017). Beyond mobile money, other digital technologies are being used to improve delivery of financial services, specifically, use of biometric technologies to open accounts and virtual POS for merchant payments. In addition, some commercial banks are now using agency banking to deliver financial services in rural and peri-urban areas. As digital and branch-less channels become more pervasive, Mozambique’s vision of increasing financial inclusion is achievable.
